PRIVACY POLICY

Gryphon Online Safety, Inc. (“Gryphon”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) recognizes the importance of your privacy and we take this very seriously.   You are entitled to know how we handle your personal data and you have the right to be forgotten if you no longer want to continue with our service by asking us to delete that personal data at any time.

In this Privacy Policy, we describe how we collect, use, and disclose information that we obtain about users of the Gryphon application (the “App”), users of the Gryphon wireless routers (collectively, the “Devices”), and visitors to our website www.gryphonconnect.com (the “Site”).   The services available through our Site, App, and Devices (such services, along with the Site, App, and Devices, are hereinafter collectively referred to as the “Services”).

By using any of our Services, you agree that your personal information will be handled as described in this Privacy Policy. Your use of our Services and any dispute over privacy is subject to this Privacy Policy and our Terms of Service, including its applicable limitations on damages and the resolution of disputes. Our Terms of Service are incorporated by reference into this Privacy Policy.

Operation of Gryphon WiFi and Gryphon Connect App

Information We Collect Directly From You

In order to provide you with the Gryphon WiFi management service, we collect certain information directly from you, such as your email address, and your network settings with your permission for account management and your use of the Gryphon Connect app.

Network usage information, network settings, and other information on the Gryphon Connect app temporarily pass through our servers to your mobile phone in order to present the information, but we do not permanently store any of the information on our servers.  The communication is also conducted securely over standard Internet security protocols.

We do collect network metadata for intrusion detection such as IP, port, and protocol used from the various non-computing devices.  We do not collect data related to the actual traffic content.   The metadata may be combined with other metadata anonymously (non-user identifiable) to improve the intrusion detection for everyone using Gryphon.

We anonymously (non-user identifiable) collect and aggregate website URL approvals, blocks, and hiding to improve content filtering for everyone.

For debugging issues, we may request log files from your Gryphon Connect app or WiFi router.  These logs contain software events and other data that can help us better debug your issues.  Log files get uploaded only with your permission and by using your Gryphon Connect app.    Browsing history is not part of the logs.

Affiliates. We may disclose your information to current or future affiliates or subsidiaries for purposes consistent with this Privacy Policy.

What Happens When You Visit Our Website(s):

We use industry-standard Internet marketing techniques when you visit our website(s).   In that, we and our service providers use cookies and other tracking mechanisms when you visit our site. We or our service providers may combine this information with other personal information we collect from you.

How do we use the cookies?  We or our service providers may use cookies to track visitor activity if you visit our website.  A cookie is a text file that a website transfers to your computer’s hard drive for record-keeping purposes. We or our service providers may use cookies to track user activities on our website, such as the pages visited and time spent on our site. If you want to opt out of being tracked, most browsers allow users to refuse cookies. The Help portion of the toolbar on most browsers will tell you how to prevent your computer from accepting new cookies, how to have the browser notify you when you receive a new cookie, or how to disable cookies altogether.

Third-Party Analytics

We may use third-party analytics companies, such as Google Analytics (see “How Google uses data when you use our partners’ sites or apps” to learn more) to evaluate the use of our Services. We or our service providers use these tools to help us understand the use of, and to improve, our Services, performance, and user experiences. These entities may use cookies and other tracking technologies, such as web beacons or local storage objects (LSOs), to perform their services.

Third-Party Links

Our Services may contain links to third-party websites or applications. Any access to and use of such linked websites or applications is not governed by this Privacy Policy but instead is governed by the privacy policies of those third-party websites or applications. We are not responsible for the information practices of such third parties.

Interest-Based Advertising

We use third parties such as network advertisers to serve advertisements on our Services and on third-party websites or other media (e.g., social networking platforms). This enables us and these third parties to target advertisements to you for products and services in which you might be interested. Third-party ad network providers, advertisers, sponsors and/or traffic measurement services may use cookies, JavaScript, web beacons (including clear GIFs), Flash LSOs and other tracking technologies to measure the effectiveness of their ads and to personalize advertising content to you. These third-party cookies and other technologies are governed by each third party’s specific privacy policy, not this one. We may provide these third-party advertisers with information, including personal information, about you.

Users in the United States may opt out of many third-party ad networks. For example, you may go to the Digital Advertising Alliance (“DAA”) Consumer Choice Page for information about opting out of interest-based advertising and their choices regarding having information used by DAA companies. You may also go to the Network Advertising Initiative (“NAI”) Consumer Opt-Out Page for information about opting out of interest-based advertising and their choices regarding having information used by NAI members.

Opting out from one or more companies listed on the DAA Consumer Choice Page or the NAI Consumer Opt-Out Page will opt you out from those companies’ delivery of interest-based content or ads to you, but it does not mean you will no longer receive any advertising through our site or on other websites. You may continue to receive advertisements, for example, based on the particular website that you are viewing (i.e., contextually based ads). Also, if your browsers are configured to reject cookies when you opt out on the DAA or NAI websites, your opt-out may not be effective. Additional information is available on the DAA’s website at www.aboutads.info or the NAI’s website at www.networkadvertising.org.

Security

We have taken steps to help protect the personal information we collect about you from loss, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. However, no data security measures can guarantee 100% security. You should take steps to protect against unauthorized access to your account by, among other things, choosing a robust password that nobody else knows or can easily guess and keeping your device login information private.

Your Choices

You may update or delete the personal information that we have about you by updating your Gryphon account or emailing us at support@gryphonconnect.com. Please note that while we will honor certain requests (e.g., to update a username), we will not be able to honor requests not to use our servers if you desire to continue to use your Gryphon Service since we need to use your account information to continue to provide you with the service consistent with our privacy policy.

We may send periodic promotional or informational emails to you. You may opt-out of such communications by following the opt-out instructions contained in the email. Please note that it may take up to ten (10) business days for us to process opt-out requests. If you opt out of receiving emails about recommendations or other information we think may interest you, we may still send you emails about your account or any Services you have requested or received from us.

Children

Our Services are not targeted to children under thirteen (13) years of age, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we discover that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will promptly delete such personal information from our systems.
